
Nearby is the historic market town of Brampton with lovely tea shops and antique centres and the Moot Hall located in the centre. We are only 8 miles from Gretna Green, famous for run-away weddings and the Gateway Village - a paradise for shoppers.
Other local places of interest include Talkin' Tarn - a local English Heritage site with woodland walks round the beautiful lake. There is also a chance to see the endangered red squirrel which still lives here.
Lanercost Priory (circa.1166AD), founded by Henry II. The Priory contains three stained glass windows by Sir Edward Burne-Jones. The historic city of Carlisle with its 900 year old Castle and impressive Cathedral is well worth a visit.
