Brampton is a small market town situated 2 miles from Newtown Farm. In the centre of the town is the octagonal Moot Hall built in 1817 with an external staircase to its upper entrance, which now houses the tourist information. About 2 miles south of Brampton is Gelt woods, a delightful walk, and also an RSPB nature reserve. Talkin Tarn Country Park lies 2 miles south-east of Brampton, there is a 65 acre lake set amid 120 acres of farmland and woodland.
Brampton also has a Golf course, and a Fish Farm which can provide you with a leisurely day’s fishing.
